9/11

Filed under: Uncategorized — tracey @ 12:26 am

I can’t believe it’s been 8 years since 9/11.  Eight years since millions of Americans all across this country stood paralyzed in front of their television sets watching the horrid events of the day play out in front of them.  Eight years since thousands of Americans lost their brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, parents, and friends.  Eight years to try and get used to the big hole I see everytime I look at the New York City skyline.

A lot has changed in the past 8 years.  At the time I was just a poor student my first year in grad school.  I was still in denial of my sexuality and still dating my ex-boyfriend.  It had only been a little over a year since my mother had passed away and I wondered what she would have thought.   Hell, I didn’t even know what I thought!  The only thing I did know for sure was that I was grateful the events of the day had not directly affected my immediate family…
