Old Man Winter

Filed under: Uncategorized — tracey @ 3:55 pm

First off… Why is Old Man Winter old?  Or even a man?  When I think of Old Man Winter, I picture a cranky, white haired man with a skullet (like a mullet but with a receding hairline) and senile dementia who’s forgotten to take his meds.

Well, it’s become apparent to me that OMW loathes the Midwest.  For the past week, we’ve been blasted with snow, sleet, freezing rain, and ridiculously low temperatures.  My entire backyard is covered in ice… to the point that my dog doesn’t even want to poop back there!  Walking around the yard makes me feel as though I live on top of a glacier!  It’s insane.  Plus, it’s so cold that salt won’t even melt it!!  My whole life living in NY, never have I experienced such a nasty Old Man Winter.  Maybe his younger, not so cranky brother’s in charge of the Long Island area.  Maybe he’s Middle-Aged Man Winter.  Good thing is that I fly out to Long Island tomorrow to be with my family for Christmas.  I checked the weather there.  It’s suppose to be in the 40’s and even 50 one day while I’m there.  It’s going to feel like the tropics to me!!!

I’m exhausted…

Filed under: Uncategorized — tracey @ 10:30 pm

Between all the Christmas functions at work, shopping for presents, and (Sunday afternoon) the State Board Health walking into my job for their annual survey, I am completely exhausted.  Working 13 hour days isn’t exactly something you want to do when you’re salary.  I cannot wait until next week when I can finally relax.

I’m flying home to NY for Christmas.  Can’t wait to see my family and my best friend, Chris!  There is a light at the end of this tunnel!!!

Birthday Pup

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — tracey @ 7:05 pm

Yesterday was Teddy’s birthday.  He turned 1.  (For those of you who don’t know, Teddy is Lyndsey and my Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  Picture posted in the photo section.)

Teddy’s my little buddy.  I take him almost everywhere with me.  He comes to work with me everyday and the residents at the nursing home make a big fuss over him.  Needless to say, he’s spoiled!

Since it was his b-day, we decided to take him to the pet store and buy a new toy for him.  We wound up getting him a giant ladybug with a really loud squeaker.  Plus, lots of treats/bones (not that he needed anymore!).

For some reason, Lyndsey got this idea in her head that she was going to name all Teddy’s toys so that they rhyme with or sound similar to his name.  The very first squeaky toy we bought for him when he was just a tiny pup was a dinosaur named Freddy.  Over the past 10 months, we’ve also gained Betty, Eddy, and now the ladybug’s name is Conchetti.  Apparently, Teddy’s newest squeaky toy’s Italian!!

Newsweek Article

This evening I read an article published in Newsweek magazine on gay marriage and the Bible.  It exposes the hypocrisy of Christians who condemn homosexuality as a sin.  Here is the link to the article:

It intelligently explains everything I already knew to be true!
